There’s a difference between a well-made tennis piece and one made to hit a price point. Many retailers produce these pieces as light and thin as possible, using minimal solid gold to reduce cost. Over time, that can mean weaker settings, flimsy clasps, and pieces that lose their shape with regular wear.
Others are not solid gold at all. Some are gold vermeil (which is a layer of gold over silver) or gold plated (which is a thin layer of gold over base metal). With wear, that outer layer can fade or wear through.
Some pieces are set with simulants such as cubic zirconia or moissanite. Others use extremely low-grade diamonds with poor cut, colour and clarity, reducing the pieces that lack brilliance and longevity.
Ma Folie’s diamond tennis pieces are made differently. We use solid 14k white gold with proper weight and structure, secure settings, and well-cut DE VVS diamonds that actually reflect light. Designed to feel substantial and built to last.
