Lab Diamond Rings

Lab diamond rings are real diamond rings. The only difference is where the diamond was grown.

Lab grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds. They're graded on the same scale for cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight, and they look exactly the same.

The main advantage is cost. A lab grown diamond typically costs significantly less than a natural diamond of the same size and quality, which means more ring for your budget.

This collection features lab diamond engagement rings in a range of styles, including solitaire, three-stone, toi et moi, and halo settings.

All rings are handcrafted a few blocks away from our Vancouver studio. We hand-select each lab diamond for cut, clarity, colour and carat weight. 

A lab diamond ring is a good choice for anyone who wants a higher-quality stone without compromising on craftsmanship.

Our lab diamonds come with an IGI report that authenticates the stone. 

Ma Folie is committed to providing only the highest quality lab-created diamonds and exclusively use lab diamonds in the DEF colour range (colourless) for the purest, most brilliant appearance. 

For clarity, only lab diamonds with VS grades (Very Slightly Included) or VVS (Very Very Slightly Included) are used, ensuring that any inclusions are nearly invisible, even under magnification. 

This means you get a diamond that combines beauty and quality.

An engagement ring marks a commitment and decision to build a life together. The diamond became central to that tradition because it could withstand time, both physically and culturally.

As the hardest known natural material, diamonds resist scratching which makes them a practical choice for a ring that’s meant to be worn every day.

The use of diamonds in engagement rings dates to the 15th century European royalty. They became widely popular much later and remain the leading choice for engagement rings today.

A natural diamond is a naturally occurring mineral made of pure carbon that has crystallized under extreme heat and pressure deep within the Earth. It is the hardest known natural material.

A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond created in a controlled laboratory instead of forming naturally in the Earth. It’s made of pure carbon and has the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as a natural diamond. 

At Ma Folie, we use both natural and lab-grown diamonds based on the client’s preference. Natural diamonds are sourced responsibly and compliant with the Kimberley Process. Canadian-mined diamonds are also available.

When shopping for an engagement ring, you’ll hear about the Four C’s. It’s the standard way diamonds are graded and compared. 

They stand for Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat.

  • Cut affects how much a diamond sparkles.
  • Colour measures how white or warm a diamond appears.
  • Clarity refers to natural inclusions within the stone.
  • Carat is the diamond’s weight.

If you’re unsure of what matters most, not to fret. Ma Folie only sources the best quality diamonds, both natural and lab-grown.

Ma Folie’s diamond rings come with either a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) report for a natural diamond or an International Gemological Institute (IGI) report for a lab diamond. These reports authenticate the diamond.

Diamond shapes include oval, round, radiant, emerald, cushion, marquise, pear and more. The shape refers to the outline of the stone. 

Cut refers to how the diamond is faceted. The most common styles are brilliant-cut, which is designed for maximum sparkle, and step-cut, which has a cleaner, more linear look.

Ma Folie can source both traditional diamonds as well as more distinctive options like movals, rose cuts, old mine cut cushions, Asscher cuts, old European cuts, Portuguese cuts, portrait cut, and more.
