One of the most common questions we get is: “Should I choose a lab diamond or a natural one?”
Both are great options. It just depends on what matters most to you.
Lab diamonds are more affordable, which means you can often get a larger and better quality stone. Natural diamonds are formed over millions of years, which some people find really special.
But if you're thinking of it as an investment, hate to break it to you: both lab and natural diamonds are a bit like new cars – they usually lose value the moment you walk out the door with them. There are rare exceptions for unusually large or rare stones, but most diamonds aren't an appreciating asset.
Ethics are a big concern for some people when it comes to choosing a lab or natural diamond. While lab is seen as more ethical these days, natural diamonds don’t necessarily mean unethical.
Every natural diamond we source is conflict-free and comes through the Kimberley Process, which was created to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds. We also work with CanadaMark stones when requested; these are mined in the Northwest Territories and tracked from mine to market. You can see how that plays out in real designs by browsing our diamond ring collection.
At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference. Whether you go lab or natural, we’ll help you find something that feels right for you. To get started, book a consultation here.
